Sesame Ginger Tuna Steak Salad

This is the Sesame Ginger Tuna Steak Salad I developed for the @elevitaus event I hosted. I want to share it with you all too because it’s nutrient-packed, flavourful and so, so easy to make! Ready in: 30 minutes

Serves: 4

Salad Ingredients

  • 1 tbsp extra virgin olive oil

  • 2 medium-sized tuna steaks

  • Sesame seeds for tuna crust, plus garnish

  • 1 head lettuce, chopped

  • 2 medium carrots, cut into matchsticks

  • 1 cucumber, cut into matchsticks

  • 1 cup red cabbage, sliced

  • 1 cup baby spinach

  • 4 shallot sticks, thinly sliced

  • 1 avocado, thinly sliced

  • 4x 2g Seaweed packs, cut into thin strips

  • ½ cup edamame beans, unshelled

  • Salt and pepper

  • ½ cup peanuts, crushed (garnish)


  • 1/2 medium-sized carrot, grated

  • 1 celery stalked, roughly chopped

  • 2 tbsp sesame oil

  • 2 tbsp rice wine vinegar

  • 1 tbsp honey

  • 1 tbsp minced ginger

  • 1 tbsp soy sauce


Step 1. Blend ingredients for the dressing until smooth and set aside. Add 1-2 tbsp of water if the consistency isn’t too thick to drizzle over the salad

Step 2. Prepare veggies for the salad and divide evenly among four salad bowls

Step 3. Season tuna with salt and pepper before coating in sesame seeds

Step 4. Add olive oil to a large frying pan over high heat. Add tuna steaks. Cook for 3 minutes on each side for medium-rare. Add one minute for medium or two minutes for well done

Step 5. Remove from heat and slice with a sharp knife, adding half of each steak to each salad

Step 6. Garnish each salad with crushed peanuts and then add dressing and enjoy!
